- Important Information About Installing System 7.5
-
- System 7.5 can be found on the following path's:
-
- Free Trade Zone/ES•Software/Macintosh Software/Mac SW (N-Z)/System Software 7.5
- EtherKnott/ES•Software 1/Macintosh Software/Mac SW (N-Z)/System Software 7.5
- •Public Servers•/Mason Dixon/System Software/System Software/System Software 7.5

- Before You Install
-
- Remember to check out the HAWAII folder to find out how you could win a trip to Hawaii.

- IMPORTANT Make sure your hard drive has at least 20MB free before installing System 7.5
-
- 1. Backup your hard drive, or at least, your System Folder.
-
- 2. If you have a Disk Tools disk boot from it at this time and complete steps 3 and 4. If you do not
- have a Disk Tools disk, Disk First Aid and HD SC Setup can be found in the Before You Install
- folder inside the System Software 7.5 folder (You can run Disk First Aid, but you will not be able
- to repair any problems on your startup drive).

- 3. Run Disk First Aid (version 7.2).
- a. Double-click on the Disk First Aid application.
- b. Select the internal hard drive icon (or the appropriate startup drive).
- c. Click the Verify button.
- 1. If verification is complete and no problems are reported, click on the Quit button and go on to
- step 4.
- 2. If problems are reported with the hard drive, click on the Repair button. After the disk has
- been repaired, go on to the next step. (If you are running Disk First Aid from the server, the
- Repair button will be grayed out. Find a Disk Tools disk and repeat step 4.)

- 4. Update the driver with HD SC Setup (version 7.3.2).
- a. Double-click on the HD SC Setup application.
- b. Click on the Drive button until you see the appropriate hard drive.
- c. Click the Update button.
- 1. When you see the message "Driver update successfully completed", click the Quit button and go
- on to step 5.
- 2. If the Update button is grayed out, your hard drive was initialized with a 3rd party utility.
- Contact the vendor for the latest version of their utility that supports the SCSI manager 4.3.

- 5. Run the Safe Install Utility.
- a. Double-click on the Safe Install Utility application.
- b. Click on the Quick or Detailed buttons, Detailed is recommended.
- 1. If any incompatibilities are listed, click on the Move button.
- 2. Save the list when you quit the application, and send a copy to: AppleLink: MOZART

- If You Are Installing Over A Previously Shipping System:

- De-bless the System folder on the internal (or startup) hard drive.
- a. Open the currently blessed System Folder. Create a new folder and name it "Sys hide". Locate the
- System and place it in the Sys hide folder.
- b. Close the System Folder.

- If You Are Installing Over An Earlier Version Of System 7.5:
-
- De-bless the System folder on the internal (or startup) hard drive.
- a. Open the currently blessed System Folder. Create a new folder and name it "Sys hide". Locate the
- System and place it in the Sys hide folder.
- b. Close the System Folder and rename it "Old System".

- Note: After installation, you will need to drag items from your "Old System" folder to the newly installed one.

- Installation Instructions:
-
- 1. Open the Net Install folder located inside the System Software 7.5 folder.
- a. Double-click on the installer.
- b. In the first dialog window, click on the Continue button.
- c. In the Installer window, confirm Easy Install is selected in the pop-up menu in the upper left
- corner. Click the OK button.
- d. When installation is complete, click the Restart button.
